Kantar Retail IQ

Kantar Retail IQ is the globally focused retail arm of Kantar, a world leading insight, data and consulting company. They provide leading edge research and insights on thousands of companies and retail verticals across the globe.

KRIQ.com, their online platform, is the main way customers access the vast content and thought leadership specific to their needs. However, the current iteration of the platform was built on a homegrown tech stack and it wasn’t robust enough to handle the increase in number of users, pieces of content, and data- while still staying easy to use and intuitive for the user.

When we began the process of redesign, we recognized right away that the current experience was not living up to the level of the content it was housing. The logged in experience was barely distinguishable from the non-logged in experience.  It was clear it was designed as a “website” years ago. As we continued to dive into the platform, we aligned on 3 key tenets to drive its evolution.

 

Separate the Marketing Site from the Product.

This might seem simple, but when delivering this many insights to this many people, we really needed to look at the best ways to deliver to them, which led us to evolving the logged in experience into a highly personalized dashboard, that felt more exclusive, and usable.

Enhance the Search Functionality.

The existing user experience actually got in the way of finding the content you needed. And the next step you would take, searching, was also sub optimal. We implemented a new tagging strategy based on user search terms, not internal designations. We also leveraged Coveo to provide predictive, highly sortable results, as well as recommendations based on your past behaviors and preferences.

Focus on Personalization.

To ensure we got the right content to the right user at the right time, we didn’t just create a more customizable and personalized dashboard state. We also implemented a more robust “My Saved” section (which allowed users to catalogue important items and pages), enhanced the data delivery by giving you immediate access to data they’re signed up for, and the option to access new data types.

 

The result is a slick, clean and easy to understand user interface that puts nothing in the way of users accessing, saving and consuming the content they need to drive results for their business.
